Help me help you

So after helping a close friend set up an online dating profile and hearing her snarky comments in regards to her weight, I asked if she felt it held her back. After some back and forth, I promised her I could help her lose weight, but without “dieting” and just changing her lifestyle.

She ordered 3 aerobics videos and downloaded MyNetDiary and knew just how much she was allowed to eat each day. I then sent her rules:

1. Drink water! Lots of it.

2. Always eat brown over white….whole wheat, brown rice, etc

3. Have fruit or vegetable at every meal.

4. Calories, calories, calories. Take in less than you burn. Keep an eye on the Analysis portion of the app.

5. Always check serving sizes.

6. Avoid fried foods at all costs.

7. While cheese is yummy, it’s super high in calories. Eat in moderation.

8. Alcoholic beverages: Vodka & soda, white rum & soda, clear tequila & soda, red wine. Maximum of 2 (normal size) glasses for all.

9. Unless you are working out the next morning, dinner should be protein (meat) and veggies. Breakfast and lunch can have carbs.

10. Try to go 12 hours in between dinner and breakfast.

11. ALWAYS eat breakfast. Even if its just a smoothie.

12. Try to eat every 3-4 hours, but keep snack sizes small.

13. Give yourself one 150 calorie or less treat each day.

14. Exercise every day. Even if its just a walk or yoga.

Now with week 1 finished, she’s down 5 pounds! This is the life I lead and love, and want to inspire others with it. I hope this is the first of many.

Clean eating on the go!

I have been uber quiet lately, mainly because I have been trying to improve my body and eating habits. Its been so hard to find on the go clean eating, but I have done it! I have adopted the motto “If I do not understand everything on the label, I am not eating it.” So, here are some yummy on the go ideas for every meal! This will require prep, but usually only one day a week for 7 days worth of food.

These muffins are amazing! I swapped 1 cup of quinoa flour for the same portion of almond flour to add some protein:

These biscuits are delicious with an egg and organic cheese. Turkey bacon is perfectly wonderful in these:

When in doubt, a smoothie will never fail. This one keeps me full all morning:
1 cup water
1 cup raspberries or blueberries(or a mix)
1 banana
1/4 cup spinach
1tbsp natural peanut butter
2 tsp lemon

Or for a yummy morning treat:
1 cup almond milk
1tbsp natural peanut butter
1 banana
5-7 ice cubes

Udi’s All Naturale or Original granola is marvelous with almond milk, just watch the serving size!

Lunch and dinner:

Amy’s makes amazing soups that are GF, vegan, and totally clean. Not all are GF, so double check the label. My favorite is the black bean veggie.

All of the chips made by Way Better Snacks are made with natural ingredients. TJMaxx(of all places!) has these for cheaper than Whole Foods!

Paleo Civiche:
1pound of cooked, peeled shrimp
1/2 green pepper, diced
1/4 cucumber, diced
1/4 cup lime juice
1/4 cup lemon juice
1tbsp olive oil
Cut shrimp into thirds. Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Black bean rice burgers:

Hummus! Any of Sabra’s flavors are excellent with celery, carrots, green pepper, and cucumber.

Sweet potatoes are super yummy and fast. You can microwave them!

Hilary’s Eat Well makes completely clean veggie and bean patties. I have found them at Whole Foods in the frozen section. They are delicious with a side of steamed broccoli.

Garden Lites makes a huge variety of souffl├ęs that are amazing. I found them super cheap at Target! They are a full meal in one box.

Sweet Tooth!
So Delicious has many frozen treats. All of which are completely clean, with the exception of their sandwiches. They can be found pretty much anywhere.

More to come as I continue to expand my visions!
